News > Locally Varying Anisotropy
Locally varying anisotropy (LVA) lets estimation and simulation follow the geology:
- Local angles from meshes and solids: estimate_angles extracts normals from mesh faces and transfers local continuity directions to the modeling grid.
- Local angles from structural data: the same tool derives locally varying angles from structural plane data.
- Add a plunge: set the major direction within the local plane from a global azimuth and inclination, locally varying plunge data, or a plunge mesh.
- Dense data: with data such as blastholes, LocalVarioModels.fit_local fits local variogram volumes at each grid location.
- Gridded data: GridOrientEstimator estimates local orientations from smoothed gridded models that reveal geological trends.
- LVA variography: LVAExpVario selects composite pairs along local continuity directions, and get_h_pair_polylines shows how the pairs align.
- Local searches: rotate the LVA variogram at each grid node and extract local search ellipsoids so each node uses the most geologically relevant data.
