Rotation Convention Conversion

News > Rotation Convention Conversion

RMSP uses the GSLIB angle specification, often introduced to geologists with the "secret handshake": the index finger points along the major direction, the middle finger along the minor direction and the thumb vertically. The first rotation is about the vertical axis, the second about the minor axis and the third about the major axis.

Working with software that follows a different convention? RMSP converts from other rotation conventions to GSLIB, and back, in a few lines of code, with convenience methods for Datamine, Isatis, Leapfrog, Micromine, Minesight and Vulcan.

For the background, see the companion Geostatistics Lessons notebook on rotation conventions. Contact us at contact@resmodsol.com to schedule an RMSP demo.
